This manual outlines the steps necessary for implementing a volunteer program that provides support to patients and their family during the active dying process. This training builds on the skills patient and family volunteers have developed. Included in the manual are guidelines for recruitment, screening, training, scheduling and support of vigil volunteers. Power point training slides with trainer notes included. It is recommended that volunteers attend Initial Hospice Orientation and Patient/Family Volunteer Orientation Training prior to this training.
