Presence is not something that we come by easily in our world today.  People are always on their phones or texting or waiting for a text.  Presence means really “being with” people which is what we in the world of hospice should be the best at.  This session will help staff learn to truly “be with” patients and families who are experiencing a spiritual crisis.  Sometimes what might seem naturally to us like the best response might not be the most helpful intervention for a patient or family member.  It’s also impossible to be present to patients and families if we can’t find that internal calm for ourselves.  This session will also explore simple ways staff can prepare themselves for visits.
