April 15, 2010
1:00 pm – 2:30 pm EST
Tim Arsenault, M.A. Director of Spiritual Care
Suncoast Hospice
Participants will:
1) Review and understand the concept of “soul sores”, their symptoms and causes impacting individuals and companies
2) Expand the concept of “spiritual intelligence”
3) Name and explore nine spiritual competencies that can serve as “preventive barriers” to “soul sores”
4) Explore the practical utilization of these competencies in hiring, orientation, goal setting and career development
5) Learn to utilize these competencies as elements of culture building and service excellence that thoughtfully balances the development of a hospice organization that is both a “caring sanctuary and sound business”
Whether you are at the bedside or in a board room, in a cubicle or a car, hospice work is at once demanding and deeply rewarding. Many consider this work a calling and a mission. Given the impact of regulatory compliance, increased scrutiny by CMS, the explosion of technology, hardball competition and the financial downturn hospice is at risk of losing touch with its foundation. The skill set featured in this presentation will provide both “roots and wings” – contact with the best of the past and direction for tomorrow’s hospice.
